On Thursday, June 14, 2018, Asian Mint had the privilege of holding a special members-only dinner for the ladies of CREW Dallas. The event was hosted by two of the organization’s leaders, Elissa Plotsky and Jody Muse.
Needless to say, it was an enjoyable evening filled with great Asian food, great company, and lots of learning. We hope to have the opportunity to host these wonderful CREW Dallas ladies at Asian Mint again.
CREW Dallas creates success for women in commercial real estate
What’s CREW Dallas, and what’s it all about? CREW Dallas is the Dallas chapter of CREW Network, a global organization that aims to empower and advance women in the commercial real estate industry. CREW Network is present in more than 70 markets worldwide and has more than 10,000 members from all over the world.
As one of the global chapters of CREW Network, CREW Dallas is involved in creating opportunities for women in the Dallas commercial real estate industry to advance their careers. One way the organization achieves this is by showcasing its members’ expertise in various venues. Another is by holding events where members can learn more about the industry they’re in as well as connect with other members.
CREW Dallas is open to women working in or retired from one of the fields of commercial real estate. Membership is tiered, and a member’s level depends on the number of years’ experience she has in the industry. Affiliate membership is also available for women who work in industries related to commercial real estate.
Asian Mint supports causes that empower women in any industry
Since we’re a restaurant group that’s owned and led by a woman, our very own Chef Nikky Phinyawatana, there’s no question that Asian Mint supports causes that seek to empower women. If it’s a worthy organization that truly seeks to improve the lot of women in the industry they’re in – through education, networking, and other means – then Asian Mint is likely to become involved in pushing their cause.
We believe that women should help out other women whenever they can. We take to heart what the former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright once said: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.”
Among the women-centered projects that Asian Mint helped with in the past was a fashion show that benefited the Genesis Women’s Shelter, an organization that assists women who survived domestic violence get back on their feet.
Additionally, Chef Nikky is a member of the Dallas chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier (LDEI), a philanthropic society of women in the food, fine beverage, and hospitality industries around the world. A signature dish of Chef Nikky’s has been featured in one of LDEI Dallas’ signature events, “A Dame Good Party.”
