Ice cream is probably one of the best foods ever invented. There’s nothing like a scoop (or three) of ice cream on a really hot summer day. The merest touch of that cold ice on the tip of your tongue is nothing short of a summer miracle, and its creamy tastiness can soothe away the summer blues.
July happens to be National Ice Cream Month in the US. And what better way to celebrate this month than by indulging in all the ice cream your tummy (and your diet) can handle? So go out there and eat some ice cream. Better yet, drop by Asian Mint and discover what ice cream delights you can enjoy with us today.
How did we get a National Ice Cream Month?
Why is National Ice Cream Month a thing in the first place? The simple reason is this: The US government wanted to recognize the contribution of the ice cream industry to the country’s economy. Additionally, the government wanted the ice cream industry to continue growing.
The celebration was created way back in 1984 under the Senate’s Joint resolution 298, sponsored by Kentucky Senator Walter Dee Huddleston. Senator Huddleston isn’t alone in this, though. The Congress had its own Joint resolution 543, sponsored by Texas Congressman Kika de la Garza. As a result, July was proclaimed National Ice Cream Month, while the third Sunday of July is National Ice Cream Day. Then-President Ronald Reagan signed this proclamation into law that same year.
The law totally has its merits. After all, according to 2015 figures, the US ice cream industry supplies more than $39 billion to the US economy every single year. Not only that, most of the ice cream manufacturers in the country are family-owned and are responsible for approximately 180,000 jobs nationwide. Many of these manufacturers have been around for more than 50 years.

We do have a number of ice cream treats on the Asian Mint menu. If you prefer your ice cream to be nice and simple, you can order them in scoops. Our ice cream is available in classic vanilla bean, as well as distinctly Asian green tea and coconut flavors.
But if you’re feeling adventurous, we do recommend that you try one (or all) of these:
- Our Signature Green Tea Ice Cream Cake
Why choose between ice cream and cake when you can have them both? This scrumptious delight features our very own green tea ice cream layered with fluffy cake.
- Sticky Rice and Ice Cream
Sticky rice is a traditional Thai dessert, made with glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk. Pair sticky rice with ice cream—green tea or coconut flavor, your choice—and you have a match made in heaven.
Want a pick-me-up that doubles as dessert? Try our affogato, a classic vanilla bean ice cream treat served with a shot of expresso. The caffeine will wake you up, while the ice cream will soothe your sweet tooth.
All the ice cream offerings on the Asian Mint menu are house-made using fresh and quality ingredients. Moreover, they’re prepared gluten-free. If you have questions about our ice cream, you can always ask one of our friendly Mintee staff.
