Savor Asian Mint’s Cheesecake Selections on National Cheesecake Day

While cheesecake is a treat that’s savored worldwide, we can say that Americans have a serious love affair with this rich and creamy delight. Not only do we have at least a dozen varieties of cheesecake all over the country, we also have a special day for celebrating all things cheesecake.

Now, with National Cheesecake Day coming up on July 30, we invite you to partake of Asian Mint’s unique and scrumptious cheesecakes.

Cheesecake has been around since ancient times

Did you know that cheesecake is probably one of the oldest desserts ever? There’s historical evidence that cheesecake already enjoyed some popularity in ancient Greece. The earliest reference to cheesecake dates back to the 5th century BC, in the writings of a Greek physician named Aegimus. When the Romans conquered Greece, the Romans adopted the Greeks’ love for cheesecake and even served it on religious occasions.

The modern form of the baked cheesecake dates back to the 18th century, when Europeans began adding eggs instead of yeast to their cheesecake batter. This made cheesecake more like custardy cake instead of bread. When American dairy farmers accidentally discovered how to make cream cheese in the 19th century, some enterprising baker came up with the no-bake cheesecake.

Since then, our love affair with cheesecake has been going on so strong that it looks like a forever kind of thing. The US alone has around a dozen varieties of cheesecake—New York-style, Chicago-style, Philadelphia-style, Pennsylvania Dutch-style, just to name a few. The flavor combinations are also endless—fruit-topped, lemony, chocolate, even savory.

Asian Mint has its own cheesecake game going on. We have two cheesecakes on our dessert menu. One is our Mango or Raspberry Cheesecake, a light and fruity take on the classic dessert. The other one is our Salted Caramel Cashew Cheesecake, a truly decadent treat that combines the goodness of rich cream cheese, salty-sweet salted caramel, and crunchy cashews.
