The new year is just around the corner. If you’re like most people, by now you’ve probably started a list of new year’s resolutions to follow this coming 2019.
Well, if any of those resolutions have anything to do with food – like going on a diet or maybe learning to savor your food more – your Mint Family has you covered. On January 10, 2019, Asian Mint will be hosting a modern take on eating meditation with a four-course dinner at the Forest Lane location’s Skye Private Dining Room. The guided eating meditation will be presented by The Intention Table, while a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Source of Hope. We hope to see you there.
What is eating meditation and how does it work?
Most of us lead busy lives. So, it’s highly likely that while you may enjoy your food, you don’t really pay that much attention to what you eat or the act of eating itself. You sit at your meal with only half a mind to your food, and you try to wolf down as much as you can in as short a time as possible.
Practicing eating meditation forces you to be more mindful of what you eat and how you eat your food. By being mindful when you eat, you learn to appreciate your food: where it came from, how it was prepared, how it looks and smells like, and how it tastes. You become more aware of what you put in your body through your mouth and whether every bite is something your body needs.
Eating meditation has many benefits. It can help you stop overeating and lose weight. It can be your first step to a healthier lifestyle.
Asian Mint partners with The Intention Table and The Source of Hope
For this special event, Asian Mint has joined forces with The Intention Table and The Source of Hope.
The Intention Table runs different curated programs intended for self-realization. In these programs, participants learn how to be more mindful and live their lives with intention. Led by Dallas transplant Priya Patel, The Intention Table offers instruction on meditation, guided journaling, and yoga. The Intention Table will facilitate the guided meditation during our special dinner.
Part of the proceeds from the dinner will go to The Source of Hope. The Source of Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income students gain stable employment and a better shot at life through cosmetology. The organization helps these students with food, housing, and other basic needs, as well as college scholarships.
