Chef Nikky Nominated for NRAEF Faces of Diversity 2020 Award

Chef Nikky Nominated for NRAEF Faces of Diversity 2020 Award

We’ve got great news, Mint Fanatics! It’s our honor to announce that the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) has nominated Chef Nikky Phinyawatana for its annual Faces of Diversity Award.

Congratulations, Chef Nikky! We hope you win it!

What is the NRAEF Faces of Diversity Award?

The workforce of the restaurant and food service industries in the US is the most inclusive and diverse in the country. According to the NRAEF, around one million businesses make up these industries. These one million businesses, in turn, provide jobs and livelihoods for some 15.1 million people in the country.

The NRAEF celebrates this inclusion and openness through the Faces of Diversity Award. The Award honors Americans from diverse backgrounds now living the American Dream through their work in the restaurant and food service industry. Besides finding success, nominees and awardees continually give back to their community by creating jobs, doing charitable work, and other endeavors.

The year 2020 is the 12th year that NRAEF will be handing out this award. It has done so in partnership with PepsiCo.

Chef Nikky embodies the American Dream

Chef Nikky is a true example of a person from a diverse background who now lives the American Dream. Born in Thailand to a Thai father and an American mother, she first came to the US as a teenager. She followed her passion for cooking and pleasing people by creating the concept that is Asian Mint.

Through this passion and hard work, and with the support of family, friends, and loyal Mint Fanatics, Asian Mint became one of the top restaurants in the Greater Dallas area. As we all know, Asian Mint is a back-to-back Reader’s Choice for Best Thai in the Best of Big D Awards.

Chef Nikky actively gives back to the Dallas community as well. Charitable giving is one of the pillars of Asian Mint. Part of the restaurants’ daily sales are allocated to charity. Asian Mint is also a regular fixture in annual fundraiser socials in the DFW area like Les Dames D’Escoffier Dallas’ yearly A Dame Good Party. Additionally, Asian Mint readily participates in one-off fundraising events like the DTX4HTX fundraiser for Houston victims of Hurricane Harvey. And as a thank-you to Dallas’ police force, Dallas cops get a 30% discount off their orders.

Congratulations again, Chef Nikky! You certainly deserve to be nominated. We hope you win it.
