Asian Mint Honors Ron Hall at October 8 Foodies VIP Dinner

Same Kind of Different as Me is showing in theaters on October 20, 2017. To celebrate this movie premiere, Asian Mint is hosting Ron Hall, the author of the book the film is based on, at its upcoming Foodies VIP Dinner. The dinner will be at Asian Mint’s Inwood Village location at Dallas Fort Worth on October 8, 2017.

The Foodies VIP Dinner hosting Ron Hall is a chance for Dallas fans of Same Kind of Different as Me a chance to meet, greet, and share a meal with the author. The dinner shall feature an upcoming James Beard menu Asian Mint will debut for the occasion. The menu includes wine pairing. All guests to this event will have a chance to win an autographed copy of the book, four tickets to the film’s premiere, plus T-shirts.

Same Kind of Different as Me tells the story of how Ron Hall, a white businessman from Texas, became friends with Denver Moore, an African-American homeless man from Louisiana. The book showed how their lives intersected through Ron’s wife Deborah, whom Denver helped with her ministry as she struggled with cancer. The story explored how these two men are essentially the same despite the differences in their upbringing and background.

Hall and Moore co-authored the book with journalist Lynn Vincent. Vincent is also known for co-writing Todd Burpo’s autobiography Heaven Is for Real and Sarah Palin’s memoir Going Rogue.

The film adaptation of Same Kind of Different as Me features a stellar cast of Academy Award winning actors. They are led by Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine) as Ron, Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) as Denver, and Renee Zellweger (Cold Mountain) as Deborah. Joining them are Jon Voight (Coming Home) as Earl Hall, Olivia Hall (Kickin’ It) as Regan Hall, and Stephanie Leigh Schlund (The Hunger Games) as C.C. The film is directed by Michael Carney. Carney also wrote the adapted screenplay for the film with Ron Hall and Alexander Foard. He additionally served as executive producer.

Tickets to the Foodies VIP Dinner honoring Ron Hall are $135 each. These include the meal with wine pairing, as well as a chance to be drawn for raffle prizes. 

Asian Mint has been a fixture in the Dallas food scene since 2004, when it opened its first location at 75 & Forest Lane. Owned and operated by renowned Dallas chef Nikky Phinyawatana, Asian Mint offers New Bangkok-style cuisine with an Asian Fusion menu. Asian Mint recently celebrated the opening of its third restaurant on Lovers Lane in Inwood Village.
