3 Sizzling Asian-Inspired Grilling Ideas for Father’s Day

Fire up the grill!

Sunday, June 20th, is dedicated to honoring fathers. To help you prepare for this special day, Asian Mint is sharing some tips for delicious recipes, including grilled shrimp, ginger chicken breast and stir fry.

Although, celebrating Father’s Day is a historically Western tradition marked by the third Sunday in June, there is a Thai connection. In Thailand, Father’s Day is celebrated December 5, the birthday of King Rama IX who was considered the father of the country. This special day is a great opportunity to make Dad feel special (and enjoy some delicious grilling recipes, while you’re at it!).

Plus, dads who dine-in at Asian Mint’s Forest Lane location this Sunday will receive a free beer or Thai iced tea.

Follow along the quick and easy recipes below, and let us know how your family’s Father’s Day is celebrated!

Recipe #1: Asian-Inspired Ginger Chicken Breast

Ingredients: Vegetable oil, chicken breast, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, carrots, snap peas, scallion, yellow onion, green cabbage, Nikky’s Stir Fry Sauce, white vinegar and jasmine rice

Elevate a plain chicken breast with this Asian-inspired ginger twist!

Ginger chicken is special because the sauce is extremely unique. The balance of acid, sweet, spicy and salt flavors play on the spicy taste of ginger that deserves its own blend of flavors.

Heat a non-stick wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and stir fry until done. Add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant, about 10 seconds.

Stir in vegetables, then add Nikky’s Stir Fry Sauce and vinegar. Continue to stir fry until vegetables are al dente, 3-5 minutes.

 Serve with rice.

Try this dish on Dad’s special day, and the whole family is guaranteed to fall in love.

Recipe #2: Chicken Basil Stir Fry

Ingredients: Vegetable oil, boneless, skinless chicken, broccoli florets, garlic cloves,  Nikky’s Black Soy Sauce, Thai basil leaves, jasmine rice, Thai-fried eggs (optional)

Give your stir fry an Asian Mint kick with Nikky’s Black Soy Sauce.

Heat a non-stick wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and broccoli and stir fry until done. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 10 seconds. Add a splash of water if chicken appears dry.

Stir in Nikky’s Black Soy Sauce and basil. Toss for one 1 minute.

Serve with rice. If desired, top each serving with Thai-fried egg.

Recipe #3: Grilled Shrimp

Ingredients: Shrimp (cooked or uncooked), orange juice, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce and Sriracha

This shrimp marinade is a must-have for future grilling recipes! Combine orange juice, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce and Sriracha to give your grilled shrimp a delicious and Asian-inspired kick. To make the recipe even quicker, use pre-cooked shrimp.

For those who love to go the extra mile, peel, remove the tails and de-vein at home. Marinade for just 10 minutes, and throw them onto the grill! If desired, the shrimp can also cook stove-top on a skillet in no time at all. If desired, you can even incorporate into a stir fry recipe of your own or add on top of your favorite salad base.
