ABOUT CHEF NIKKY

Nikky Phinyawatana is a Thai Texan chef, visionary entrepreneur, and the creative force behind Asian Mint, one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s most beloved and award-winning restaurant groups. Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, Nikky ventured to Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from The Hockaday School in 1996. She earned her BBA in Entrepreneurial Studies and Marketing from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, before honing her culinary skills at El Centro College Culinary School in Dallas. Today, she and her husband call Dallas home, raising their two beautiful children while continuing to share her passion for food and community.
Since opening in 2004, Asian Mint has become a go-to neighborhood spot, blending New Bangkok-style cuisine with a fresh Asian fusion twist. The restaurant group has earned top accolades, including Dallas Eater’s #1 Best Thai Food and CultureMap’s Top 100 Restaurants, along with recognition from USA Today, Zagat, Dallas Observer, and D Magazine. Chef Nikky’s menus are infused with love, bold flavors, and a deep commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients.
In 2024, she debuted her first award-winning cookbook, Thai Food and Travel with Chef Nikky, bringing her love for Thai cuisine and culture to kitchens everywhere. She also launched her own line of signature sauces, available in Asian Mint restaurants, online, and at Central Market locations throughout the Dallas area.
Beyond the kitchen, Chef Nikky is dedicated to philanthropy and mentorship. She is a proud member and the current president of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, supporting the next generation of women in the culinary industry. She also serves as vice president of the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association and as a board trustee of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation.
Her contributions have earned her numerous honors, including the Women That Soar Award for Business of the Year (2017) and eWomen Network’s Business Matchmaker of the Year (2017). She capped off the year with an invitation from the James Beard House Foundation in New York City, where she prepared a special dinner celebrating Loy Krathong, Thailand’s lunar festival—a testament to her mission of sharing Thai culture through food.
